I discovered this shop while on vacation during the summer of 2004. This two-level store offers yarns, needles, accessories, patterns and classes on the upper level, and a wide-variety of beads, fixings, patterns and classes on the lower level. It has a welcoming space and staff.

This is an absolutely charming yarn shop that I feel very lucky to have nearby. Their huge selection of yarns includes just about every variety of wool and cotton including blends and lots of novelty yarns. I am always amazed that they can stock so many different manufacturers and just about their complete lines of colors. My favorite part about coming to visit is that as soon as you walk in you are totally surrounded with new finished garments that are displayed to really help you decide if a certain pattern is right or not. Many of the sweaters, accessories and kids clothes are knitted in the classes they have. I have to highly recommend that if you ever visit Vermont for foliage or skiing or whatever, you need to stop in to the shop to see just how unique it is.

Lamb's Yarn Shop
38 Kendall Avenue
Rutland, VT 05701

This is an old fashioned yarn shop in the back of the owner's home. It is the best yarn shop I have been to. The service is friendly and Mrs Lamb is always ready to help you with a pattern or a problem. She will order yarn for you and ship it to you if you are from out of state. The shop has all the latest yarn, in fact I found the self striping sock yarn there before I saw it anywhere else. A great selection of bamboo needles and double pointed needles are available too. So if you are heading up to Kilington for skiing, head on down the mountain into Rutland and stop and see Mrs. Rogers.

North-East Fiber Arts

This is a higher end shop offering a wide variety of European yarns that are hard to find around these parts. Though it is at times somewhat expensive, the quality of the yarn and the samples to browse betray the owner's immaculate taste. They also offer classes that I have heard wonderful things about.

Northeast Fiber Arts is known locally as, The Knitter's Candy Store. There is an extensive collection of yarns from basic to novelty, along with knitting accessories, felting, spinning and weaving materials. There are classes for knitting and other fiber crafts offered throughout the year. The store offers discount programs Frequent Fiber and Big Knitters clubs. NFAC prices and selections are comparable to other knitting shops in the area. During my time as a knitter, I have called upon the owner of this shop for assistance and have been very pleased with the help I received. If you stop in, you will be awed by the beautiful fibers from all over the world and get new ideas when perusing the extensive selection of completed pieces on display. A truly wonderful shop in Williston Village for knitters of all experience levels.
