Ursula Fischer: Needle Arts
1717 Kalakaua, Second Floor
Honolulu, Hawaii 96826

I made the mistake of not bringing any knitting with me on a trip to Hawaii, thinking that I'd be too busy. Fortunately, I found Ursula Fischer's shop, about a half hour's walk from Waikiki. The shop itself is tiny, and a bit hard to spot since it's on the second floor. There were several women there knitting and socializing, and the owner was exceptionally friendly and helpful, she assisted me in selecting a lovely mohair yarn suitable for a shawl. I expected the prices to be a bit higher than usual due to extra shipping costs, but they were the same as back home, quite reasonable. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience, I would be happy to always have such excellent service in a yarn shop.

This shop was reviewed by a second knitter.

I learned of this shop from the knitting.about.com site and visited there on my honeymoon in November 2004. The shop was lively with several knitters working on their projects around a table. The shop is small and crowded, yet welcoming.

The yarns were beautiful and the staff was friendly. After admiring a cape, I was given the pattern and the owner helped me select the correct yarn for the project.

P.S. No credit cards accepted.
