Very Easy, Very Quick Pullover

Designed by Nancy Salcedo

quick and easy pullover

This sweater goes very quickly. It took me 4 hours to do the front and 1/3 of the back. It takes 4 skeins of Lion Brand Thick and Quick Chenille.

Gauge:
2 stitches to the inch and 3.1 rows to the inch using size 11 needles.

Size:
Small-finished bust is 36" (if you were to add 4- 6 stitches it would work for larger sizes).

Instructions:

Front:
Loosely cast on 39 stitches and begin working stockinette stitch, starting with a purl (wrong side) row.
Decrease 1 stitch at the beginning and end of row 24.
Continue working in st st, decreasing 1 time more at the beginning and end of row 44 (35 stitches).
Work through row 49, about 16" (or however many rows to achieve the length you desire).

Shape Armholes:
Bind off 2 stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows; decrease 1 stitch at each edge on the next row and then on the 2 following alternate rows (25 stitches). Continue to work in st st until you complete 59 rows.

Front Neckline:
Work 10 stitches, put the next 5 stitches on a holder, attach another ball of yarn, work the next 10 stitches.
Working both sides at the same time, decrease one stitch at each neck edge on rows 62, 66, and 70 (7 stitches remaining on each side).
Work through row 75.
Bind off 3 stitches at the beg of the next 2 rows, and 4 stitches at the beg of the last 2 rows.

Back:
Work as for front (omitting neckline shaping) until you reach row 75.
Shape shoulders the same as for the front.
At the same time, on row 77, put the center 11 stitches on a holder for the back neckline.

Join the right shoulders.

Neck band:
Pick up 14 stitches down the left front, k across the 5 stitches on the holder, pick up 15 stitches up the right side k across the 11 stitches on the holder, pick up one more stitch (46 st).
Bind off all stitches.
Join left shoulder.

Sleeves:
Loosely cast on 19 stitches.
Work in st st, beg with a purl row. Work for about 57 rows (depending upon the length required).
At the same time, increase one stitch at both sides of row 4, and then every 10th row 4 times (29 stitches).

Shape Cap:
Bind off 2 stitches at the beg of the next 2 rows.
Decrease 1 stitch at the beginning and end of every other row, 6 times.
Bind off the remaining 13 stitches.
