Knitting Pattern Bolero Vest

An easy pattern knit in stockinette stitch with a color changing yarn. Four sizes for women.

Gauge:
19 sts and 24 rows=4" in St st

Materials:
Taos by Crystal Palace Yarns
3 (3, 4, 4) balls color#11 Two Gray Hills
100% wool
128 yards/118 meters
50 grams/1.75 ounces
Size 8 US (5 mm) straight needles or size needed to obtain gauge
Size 8 US (5 mm) 35" circular needles or size needed to obtain gauge
Size F-5 (3.75 mm) crochet hook

Sizes:
S (M, L, XL)
Equivalent Finished Chest Measurements:
36 (40, 44, 48) inches

Knitting Pattern Bolero Vest

Instructions:

Back
CO 85 (95, 105, 114) sts.
Work St st 5".
BO 6 sts beg next 2 rows - 73 (83, 93, 102) sts
Dec 1 st each end every other row 5 (6, 8, 10) times - 63 (71, 77, 82) sts

Work until armhole measures 9½ (9½, 10, 10½)" (piece will measure 14½ (14½, 15, 15½)" from beg).
BO 8 (9, 10, 11) sts beg next 2 rows, then 8 (10, 11, 11) sts beg next 2 rows.
Place rem 31 (33, 35, 38) sts on holder for back of neck.

Right Front
CO 17 (22, 27, 31) sts.
Work 2 rows St st.
Inc 1 st at neck edge next and then every other row 13 more times as follows: - 31 (36, 41, 45) sts
K1, k into front and back of next st, k across
Work even until piece measures 5".
WS: At armhole, BO 6 sts - 25 (30, 35, 39) sts
At armhole, dec 1 st every other row 5 (6, 8, 10) times.
At same time, at neck edge, dec 1 st next and then every 12th (12th, 8th, 8th) row 4 (4, 6, 7) times more.
Work until armhole measures same as Back.
BO shoulders as for Back.

Left Front
As for Right Front, reversing shaping.

Armhole Bands
Seam shoulders and sides.

Work 1 rnd single crochet around armholes.

Neck/Front/Bottom Bands
With RS facing and circular needles, beginning at bottom Right bottom edge of side seam, pick up 15 (20, 25, 29) sts across Right bottom edge, 71 (71, 73, 75) sts up Right edge, k 31 (33, 35, 38) sts from back of neck holder, pick up 71 (71, 73, 75) sts down Left edge, 15 (20, 25, 29) sts across Left bottom edge, 82 (90, 99, 109) sts across bottom Back edge - 285 (305, 330, 355) sts
