Bolero With Lace Edging Knitting Pattern

This bolero knitting patterns features long sleeved bell shaped sleeves and an easy to knit lace edging in a contrasting color.

Sizes:
S/M/L
Equivalent finished chest measurement 36", 39", 43"
Note: This is a tight fitting garment.

Gauge:
15 sts and 21 rows=4" in St st

Materials:
Size 10 ½ (6.5 mm) straight needles or size needed to obtain gauge
Size 10 ½ (6.5 mm) 36" circular needles
Stitch markers
8 (8, 9) balls Crystal Palace Yarns Cameo #209 Periwinkle (Color A)
2 (2, 2) balls Crystal Palace Yarns Cameo #9812 Violets (Color B)
80% merino wool/20% nylon
77 yards/50 grams

Bolero With Lace Edging Knitting Pattern Instructions

Back
With A, CO 68 (75, 81) sts. Work in St st 5 (5, 6)".
BO 4 sts beg next 2 rows - 60 (67, 73) sts
Dec 1 st at each end every other row 3 (3, 4) times as follows: - 54 (61, 65) sts
K1, SSK, k across to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1
Work even in St st until armhole measures 9 (9, 10)" (piece will measure 14 [14, 16]" from beg)
BO 7 (8, 9) sts beg next 4 rows.
Place rem 26 (29, 29) sts on holder for back of neck.

Right Front
With A, CO 15 (16, 18) sts. Work in St st for 2 rows.
Inc 1 st at neck edge (beg of row) every other row 10 (11, 12) times - 25 (27, 30) sts
Work even in St st until piece measures 5 (5, 6)".
Next row (WS): At armhole edge, BO 4 sts. P across row.  Dec 1 st at neck edge next row and then every 14th row 3 (3, 3) more times.
At the same time, dec 1 st at armhole edge every other row 3 (3, 4) times - 14 (16, 18) sts
Work even until piece measures same as Back.
Next row (WS): BO 7 (8, 9) sts beg next 2 rows.

Left Front
As for Right Front, reversing shaping.

Sleeves
With B, CO 37 (41, 45) sts. Work in pattern st as follows:
Row 1 (WS): p
Row 2: k2, *yo, k2tog; rep from *, end k1
Row 3: p
Row 4: k1, *ssk, yo; rep from *, end k2

Rep Rows 1-4 once more.

Dec 9 (10, 11) sts as follows:
*p2, p2tog; rep from *, end p1 - 28 (31, 34) sts

Change to A and St st. Work 4 rows in St st, beg with a K row.
Next row (RS): Inc 1 st each end, then inc 1 st each end every 4th row 4 (2, 2) more times, then inc 1 st each end every 6th row 10 (12, 12) times - 58 (61, 64) sts
Work even until sleeve measures 18 (18 ½, 18 ½)" from beg.
BO 4 sts beg next 2 rows - 50 (53, 56) sts
Dec 1 st at end end every other row 19 (19, 20) times.
BO 12 (15, 16) sts.

Finishing
Seam shoulders. Sew in sleeves. Seam sides and sleeves.

Edging
With B and circular needles, with RS facing, beg at right side seam (where the bottom Right Front is seamed to Back). Pick up 14 (15, 17) sts across the Right Front bottom edge, place marker, 58 (58, 60) sts across Right Front edge, k 26 (29, 29) sts from holder at back of neck, pick up 58 (58, 60) sts across Left Front edge, place marker, 14 (15, 17) sts across Left Front bottom, 67 (74, 80) sts across Back bottom - 237 (249, 263) sts

Mark beg of round. Join. Work in pattern st (odd number of sts) as follows, removing markers after Round 1.

Rnd 1: K, inc 1 st in st on each side of both markers - 241 (253, 267) sts
Rnd 2: K1, *yo, k2tog; rep from *
Rnd 3: K
Rnd 4: *SSK, yo; rep from *, end k1
Rnd 5: K

BO.
Weave in ends on WS.
Block if necessary.
