K2, P2 Ribbed Hat For Kids Knitting Pattern

Roll Brim Hat The k2, p2 ribbing is continued throughout the entire hat so it has a good deal of stretch. It will fit kids about ages 2 through 8. Fold the brim to lengthen or shorten the hat.

Materials:
Size 10 ½ US (6.5 mm) 16" circular and double pointed needles or size needed to obtain gauge
One ball Lion Boucle by Lion Brand
Color #205 Sorbet
70 grams/2.5 ounces
57 yards/52 meters
79% acrylic/20% mohair/1% nylon

Gauge:
2.75 sts=1 inch in St st

Size:
Kids about ages 2 through 8.

Instructions:

CO 48 sts on circular needles. Join, being careful not to twist sts. Mark beg of round.

Knit k2, p2 ribbing 5½" as follows:
Rnd 1: *k2, p2; rep from *
Rep this rnd.

Crown Decrease
Change to double points when sts no longer fit on circular needle.

Rnd 1: *k2, p2tog; rep from * - 36 sts
Rnd 2: *k2, p1; rep from *
Rnds 3 & 4: Rep Rnd 2
Rnd 5: *k2tog, p1; rep from * - 24 sts
Rnd 6: *k1, p1; rep from *
Rnd 7: *k1, k2tog; rep from * - 16 sts
Rnd 8: k
Rnd 9: k2tog around - 8 sts

Finishing
Cut yarn and leave about a 12 inch tail. Thread tail through tapestry needle; insert through each rem st on needle, removing sts from needle. Pull tightly to close top of hat. Weave in ends on WS.

Fold up brim to length desired.
