Christmas Stocking Knitting PatternDesigned by Barbara BreiterCircumference 9" Gauge: 4 sts=1" in St st Materials: Size 10½ US (6.5 mm) double pointed needles (set of 4) Worsted weight white yarn and white eyelash yarn held together OR bulky weight white yarn (A) - approx 10 grams Red bulky weight yarn (B) - approx 60 grams Instructions: With A, CO 36 sts. Divide over 3 needles (12 on each needle). Make sure sts aren't twisted. Join. Mark beg of round. Work k1, p1 rib 2". Change to B. Work in St st 11" or desired length. Heel Flap Work 12 sts from Needle 1 and 6 sts from Needle 2 on one needle. Place rem 18 sts from Needle 2 on Needle 3 for instep. Flap is worked in rows. Row 1: sl 1, purl across rem sts Row 2: *sl 1, k1; rep from * Rep Rows 1 and 2 8 more times, then rep Row 1. Turn Heel Change to A. Row 1: k11, k2tog, k1, turn Row 2: sl 1, p5, p2tog, p1, turn Row 3: sl 1, k6, k2tog, k1, turn Row 4: sl 1, p7, p2tog, p1, turn Row 5: sl 1, k8, k2tog, k1, turn Row 6: sl 1, p9, p2tog, p1, turn - 12 sts Gusset Change to B. K across 12 heel sts on Needle 1. With Needle 2, pick up 10 sts along side of heel flap. With Needle 3, k 18 sts on needle for instep. With Needle 4, pick up 10 sts along other side of heel flap. K 6 sts from Needle 1 on to Needle 4. Slip rem 6 sts from Needle 1 on to Needle 2. Needle 2 is now Needle 1. (16/18/16 sts on 3 needles). Mark beg of round. Foot Rnd 1: Needle 1: k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1 Needle 2: k Needle 3: k1, ssk, k to end Rnd 2: k Rep these 2 rnds until you have 36 total sts (9/18/9) Work even until foot is 7" or desired length. Toe Change to A. Rnd 1: Needle 1: k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1 Needle 2: k1, ssk, k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1 Needle 3: k1, ssk, k to end Rnd 2: k Rep these 2 rnds until you have 16 total sts. K sts from Needle 1 to Needle 3. Graft using kitchener stitch, BO and seam, or use 3 needle bind off to close toe. Make a loop for hanging.
