Santa Ornament Knitting Pattern

Materials:
Sportweight yarn in red, white, black, and pink
Size 3 US (3.25 mm) double pointed needles-set of 4
Needle and thread
Cotton balls

Gauge:
Not vital

Size:
Approx 6" tall and 2½" wide

Instructions
With Black, CO 24 sts. Divide evenly. Join and mark beg of round.
Knit 3 rnds for boots.
With Red, knit 9 rnds for pants.
With White, knit 3 rnds for fur trim on coat.
With Black, knit 2 rnds for belt.
With Red, k3, with White k6, with Red k6, with White k6, with Red k6 for cuffs, tummy and back.
Rep last rnd once more.
With Red, knit 5 rnds for chest and arms.
Decrease For Neck
Cont with Red, *k1, k2tog; rep from * around.
Rep this rnd once more - 8 sts
Change to Pink yarn for head and face.
*k2, k into front and back of next st; rep from * around
Rep this rnd once more - 24 sts
With Pink, knit 8 rnds for head.
With White, knit 3 rnds for hat fur trim.
With Red, knit 4 rnds for hat.
Decrease For Top Of Hat
Rnd 1: *K5, k2tog; rep from * around
Rnd 2: *K4, k2tog; rep from * around
Rnd 3: *K3, k2tog; rep from * around
Rnd 4: *K2, k2tog; rep from * around
Rnd 5: *K1, k2tog; rep from * around
Rnd 6: K2tog around
BO rem sts.

Finishing
Stuff the tube with cotton balls and push the cotton balls around until you are satisfied with Santa's shape. Sew seam on each side for arms and one between legs to give the appearance of legs and arms with needle and thread. Attach tiny white pom pom on his hat. Sew on eyes, a red nose, a beard (loops of white yarn around the face), buttons, and a belt buckle.
