Teddy Bear Sweater Knitting Pattern (Fits 9 or 10 inch bears or other stuffed animals)Gail MitchellFits 9" or 10" stuffed animals Finished Measurements Chest: 12" Length: 3¼" Ribbing Length: ½" Armhole: 5" Sleeve Length: 3" Top Neck Opening: 4" Front Neck Width: 3" Front Neck Depth: 1" Gauge: 20 sts and 26 rows =4" (10 cm) in St st with larger needles Materials: Worsted weight yarn Size 6 US (4 mm) needles Size 4 US (3.5 mm) needles Instructions Back With smaller needles, CO 28 sts. Work in K1P1 ribbing for ½". Inc 4 sts evenly across last row to 32 sts total. Change to larger needles and work in St st 2 rows. Mark this row at both ends for armhole. Cont in St st for 2¾" more BO 6 sts beg next 2 rows. Place remaining 20 sts on holder. Front Work same as Back to marking armhole. Cont in St st for 1½" more. Shape Neck Work both sides at the same time. Work 8 sts. Slip the next 16 sts to a holder. With a second ball of yarn, work remaining 8 sts. Dec 1 st at neck edge every row 2 times, until 6 sts remain. Work even until armhole measures same as Back. BO. Sleeves With smaller needles, CO 24 sts. Work in K1P1 ribbing for ½". Change to larger needles and work in St st 5 rows. Inc 1 st at each end of next row, then the following 7th row to 28 sts. Work even until sleeve measures 2¾". BO. Finishing Sew left shoulder seam. With RS facing and smaller needles, pick up 20 sts from back neck holder, 6 sts from left front neck edge, 16 sts from front neck holder, and 6 sts from right front neck edge-48 sts. Work 2 rows in K1P1 ribbing. BO. Sew right shoulder. Sew in sleeves. Seam sides and sleeves. Weave in ends on WS. See Abbreviations and the Glossary for help. |
