Towel: 14½" wide x 21" long
Cloth: 7" wide x 9" long

Gauge:
18 sts=4" in Sand Stitch

Materials:
Any 100% cotton yarn - 4 to 6 balls depending on the length you want (pattern as shown was knit in Fiesta from Peaches 'n Creme)
Size 7 US (4.5 mm) needles
Tapestry needle

Instructions
Pattern Stitch - Sand Stitch
Rows 1 and 3 (RS): Knit
Row 2: *K1, P1; rep from *
Row 4: *P1, K1; rep from *

Towel
CO 66 sts.
Knit 10 rows.
Knit first and last 6 sts of every row and work Sand Stitch over center 54 sts.
Work for 19" or desired length.
Knit 10 rows.
BO. Weave in ends on WS.

Cloth
CO 32 sts.
Knit 8 rows.
Knit first and last 5 sts of every row and work Sand Stitch over center 22 sts.
Work for 7" or desired length. Knit 8 rows. BO. Weave in ends on WS.
