Small Ripple Bag Knitting Pattern

Ripple Bag Knitting Pattern

This bag is ideal for a little girl or for yourself for a night out when you need a small purse for a few items.

Size:
About 5½" long x 6" wide at widest point

Gauge:
18 sts=4" in St st

Materials:
Size 8 US (5 mm) needles or size to obtain gauge
Red (color A) and yellow (color B) worsted weight yarn
One big button and crochet hook or snap for closure
Tapestry needle

Instructions
With A, CO 4 sts.
Purl in front and back of each st-8 sts
With B, k 1 row.
Purl in front and back of each st-16 sts
With A, k 1 row.
Inc 3 sts evenly-19 sts
Note: 8 sts are inc every 4th row
Row 1: With B, k3, *(k1, yo, k1) in next st, k3; rep from *-27 sts
Row 2: With B, k1, *p1, k5; rep from *, end p1, k1
Row 3: With A, k1, ssk, *k1, (k1, yo, k1) in next st, k1, sl2-k1-p2sso; rep from *, end last 3 sts of last rep k2tog, k1
Row 4: With A, rep Row 2

Handle
With A, CO 5 sts.
Work in Seed Stitch 24" or desired length: (k1, p1) twice, k1
BO.
I-Cord would also make a nice handle.

Finishing
Fold in half. Sew side seam, bottom and two small angled edges along top.
Sew handle to inside seam, along sewn angled edges.
Weave in ends on WS.
Sew on snap. Alternatively, sew on large button and make a crochet chain along BO edge for closure loop.
