Size 4 US (3.5 mm) 29" or longer circular needles 2 buttons

Row 2: *k2, p1, yo, p1; rep from *
Row 3: *k3, p2; rep from *
Row 4: *k2, p3; rep from *
Row 5: *k1, k2tog, p2; rep from *
Row 6: *k1, yo, k1, p2; rep from *
Row 7: *k2, p3; rep from *
Row 8: *k3, p2; rep from *
Row 9: *k2, p1, p2tog; rep from *

Note: Count sts on Row 1 only as sts are increased on Rows 2 and 4 and decreased on Rows 5 and 9. Be careful counting sts when increasing or decreasing in this pattern; ignore yo's in the stitch count if not on Row 1. The pattern stitch is reversible so both sides look the same.

Back
CO 72 sts. Work in Stitch Pattern for 2¾".
Armhole Shaping
Keeping to pat, BO 4 sts beg next 2 rows. BO 3 sts beg next 2 rows. BO 2 sts beg next 2 rows. Dec 1 st each end one time-52 sts
Work even in Stitch Pattern for 5½" from start of armhole (8¼" from beginning).
Shoulder/Neck Shaping
Work 19 sts, attach second ball of yarn and BO center 14 sts, with second ball work 19 sts.
Working both sides at the same time, BO 5 sts at the beginning of the next 4 rows, then 4 sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows.
At the same time, after 2 rows BO 5 st at each neck edge 1 time.

Front
Make 2.
Note: This stitch pattern is reversible; make second Front the same, omitting buttonholes. When seaming, select if buttonholes will be on the right or left.
CO 2 sts.
Knit one row.
Keeping to pat and using the Cable cast on, CO 2 sts at the beginning of each row 12 times - 26 sts (1¾" from beg)
CO 3 sts at the beginning of every other row 6 times - 44 sts (3¼" from beg)
Work even 3 rows even, making two buttonholes on second row between 1st and 2nd sts, and 13th and 14th sts.
Neck Shaping
At the right edge, dec 1 st 17 times, then every other row 3 times.
At the same time, when piece meas same as Back to armholes, shape armholes as for Back.
Work even until armhole meas same as Back. BO shoulders as for Back.

Finishing
Seam shoulders.
Armhole Bands
With RS facing, pick up 60 sts around armholes.
Work 3 rows St st, 1 row Rev St st (purl with RS facing), and 2 rows St st. BO. Rep for other armhole.
Front Bands
With RS facing and circular needles, beginning at left front at the point of the V, pick up 38 sts along lower left front, 48 along upper left front, 31 along neck edge, 48 along upper right front, and 38 along lower right front, ending at the lower V - 203 sts.
Working back and forth, work 3 rows St st, 1 row Rev St st (purl with RS facing), and 2 rows St st. BO.
Lower Front and Back Bands
With RS facing, pick up 17 sts on lower edge of left side V, 62 sts along lower side of back, and 17 sts along lower edge of right side V.
Work 3 rows St st, 1 row Rev St st (purl with RS facing), and 2 rows St st. BO.
Sew side seams. Weave in ends on WS.
If desired, fold bands in half and sew in place.
Sew on buttons.
Block.
