Eyelet Hat For Newborn Babies Knitting Pattern

This is an adorable pattern for a hat that fits newborn babies. Ribbons are run through simple to knit eyelets. It's knit in the round and based on the two needle version found here so there is no seam.

Gauge:
22 sts and 30 rows=4" (10 cm) with larger needles

Materials:
Sportweight or DK weight yarn
Size 3 US (3.25 mm) double pointed needles
Size 6 US (4 mm) double pointed needles
16" (40 cm) of 4mm wide satin ribbon

Instructions:
With smaller needles, CO 58 sts. Be sure sts aren't twisted. Join. Place marker.
Rnds 1-5: *K1, P1; rep from *
Change to larger needles.
Rnd 6: K, inc 2 sts evenly spaced - 60 sts
Rnd 7: Knit around.
Rnd 8 (eyelet rnd): *K2tog, yo; rep from *
Work in St st until 3¼" (8 cm) from beginning.
Dec 4 sts evenly spaced on last round - 56 sts.

Decrease For Crown
Rnd 1: *K5, K2tog; rep from * - 48 sts
Rnds 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10: Knit
Rnd 3: *K4, K2tog; rep from * - 40 sts
Rnd 5: *K3, K2tog; rep from * - 32 sts
Rnd 7: *K2, K2tog; rep from * - 24 sts
Rnd 9: *K1, K2tog; rep from * - 16 sts
Rnd 11: K2tog around - 8 sts

Cut yarn, leaving a tail. Thread tail through tapestry needle and through rem 8 sts and remove from needle. Pull tightly to close top of hat. Weave in ends on WS.
Thread ribbon through eyelet row, tying a bow in center front.
