Sizes:
6 months: 11" at hips, finished length 14"
12 months: 14" at hips, finished length 17"

Gauge:
16 sts and 20 rows=4" in St st with larger needles

Materials:
About 4 ounces worsted weight yarn
Size 6 US (4.25 mm) straight and 24" circular needles
Size 8 US (5 mm) straight and 24" circular needles
Stitch holder
Stitch markers
16 (19)" length of ½" wide elastic (or length needed for desired amount of stretch at waist)
7 Size 15 or 16 Dritz snaps or 18 (22) inches of snap tape (snap tape preferred)
Size F Crochet Hook

Instructions
Instructions are for 6 months size with larger size for 12 months in parentheses.
Body
With smaller circular needles, CO 84 (96) sts, placing a marker after 42 (48) sts.
Join and place marker to mark beg of round.
Work k1, p1 ribbing 2".
Change to larger circular needles and work in St st until 9" from beg.
BO first 4 (4) sts. Knit 34 (40) sts.
BO 4 (4) sts before and 4 (4) sts after marker at halfway point around circular needle.
Knit 34 (40) sts.
BO last 4 (4) sts.

Leg
Transfer one set of 34 (40) sts on to stitch holder.
Transfer other set of 34 (40) sts on to larger straight needles.
Knit 34 (40) sts in St st for 2 (3)".
Dec 1 (1) st at beginning and end of next row - 32 (38) sts.
*Knit 1" in St st and dec 1 st at beginning and end of next row - 30 (36) sts.
Rep from * 1 (4) times - 28 (28) sts.
Garment should measure 14 (17)" in length from beg.
Change to smaller straight needles.
Work in k1, p1 ribbing, dec 1 st at beginning and end of first ribbing row - 26 (26) sts.
Continue ribbing for 6 total rows.
BO in ribbing.

Second Leg
Transfer stitches from stitch holder on to larger straight needles and work as for first leg.

Finishing Work one row of single crochet from bottom of leg up around crotch and around to bottom of other leg on front and back of garment.
Turn down ribbing at top of garment to inside.
Align CO edge of garment with margin between ribbing and stockinette knitting and secure all around leaving a 1­ opening.
Cut a 16 (19)" length of ½" wide elastic.
Tunnel elastic through casing at waist of garment. Overlap ends of elastic ½" and secure.
Place elastic in casing and close opening.
Close leg and crotch opening with snaps or snap tape.
