Mary Jane Baby Booties Knitting Pattern

Adorable baby booties feature pink socks with a lace trim and Mary Jane shoes. Easy to knit on two needles.

Materials:
Black, pink and white sportweight yarn
Size 3 US (3.25 mm) needles
Size D-3 (3.25 mm) crochet hook (optional)
Small button

Gauge:
22 sts and 32 rows=4" in St st

Instructions
Sole
With Black CO 26 sts.
Work 2 rows St st.
Row 3: k1, knit into front and back of next st, k9, k into front and back of next st, k2, knit into front and back of next st, k9, knit into front and back of next st, k1 - 30 sts
Rows 4, 6, and 8: P
Row 5: k1, knit into front and back of next st, k11, k into front and back of next st, k2, knit into front and back of next st, k11, knit into front and back of next st, k1 - 34 sts
Row 7: k1, knit into front and back of next st, k13, k into front and back of next st, k2, knit into front and back of next st, k13, knit into front and back of next st, k1 - 38 sts

Sides
(RS) P 1 row.
K 2 rows, p 2 rows twice.
K 1 row.

Top
Slip all sts with yarn in front
k24, sl 1 from left to right needle leave remaining sts unworked, turn.
Row 1: P11, sl 1 from left to right needle, turn
Row 2: K12, sl 1, turn
Row 3: P13, sl 1, turn
Row 4: K14, sl 1, turn
Row 5: P15, sl 1, turn
Row 6: K16, sl 1, turn
Row 7: P17, sl 1, turn
Row 8: K18, sl 1, turn
Row 9: P19, sl 1, turn
Row 10: K20, sl 1, turn
Row 11: Change to Pink. P21, sl 1, turn
Row 12: K22, sl 1, turn
Row 13: P23, sl 1, turn
Row 14: K24, sl 1, turn
Row 15: P25, sl 1, turn
Row 16: K to end of row.
Beg with a p row, work St st 8 rows.
Work k1, p1 rib for 2 inches for cuff.
Change to White. Work Picot Bind Off as follows:
*BO 2 sts in the usual way.
Turn. Using the Cable Cast On, CO 2 sts.
Turn. Pass the second st over and off the right needle. Pass the third st over and off the right needle. One st remains.
Rep from *, end BO 1 st.

Finishing
Seam back and sole of bootie, reversing seam to other side over cuff.
Strap
About 1" from where pink begins, attach black yarn along row ridge of side with crochet hook. Chain across instep until desired length and join with slip stitch on other side in same position.
Alternatively, you can work I-Cord over 2 sts or CO 2 sts and work the strap in garter stitch. Sew on both sides.
Sew on button. Weave in ends on WS.
